“Photography is not just about the pictures”
My name is Brian Toro and photography is my passion. The tag-line for Michaux Photo is ‘Photography with a Dash of Adventure’. Within all of us is a thirst for adventure. My day-to-day work is as a software engineer and Systems Analyst. Photography is my personal escape from all that can be mundane, stressful, and dull in my daily life. Some of my pictures serves as a document for a story, or as an expression of my emotional state, or as a way of capturing the beauty of nature.
Many of the pictures that are posted are often selected out of dozens, if not hundreds. I only have time and desire to do a minimal amount of post-processing (cropping, contrast, lighting), so the pictures you see are often as real as it was when I took them.
This website is a work in progress. It is an ongoing attempt to challenge my skills as a photographer and to give me a place on the net to show off my work. I am using the photoblog format because I like to explain and document all of the forms of symbolism that comprise each of my pictures. Also, the blog format allows me to venture into the written word, and I will occasionally post essays that I’ve written, poems, musings, opinions, and notes.

Why Michaux (mi-show)?
I chose to call this site Michaux Photo after my favorite local hangout – Michaux State Forest. On any given weekend you can find me Hiking, Biking, Climbing, and taking pictures here. Several of the pictures on this site were taken in Michaux.
